I can't help it.

I love to hear his little voice.

I hope he starts babbling more soon!

I Feel Lucky

It took time, but I think it was worth it!

This was a fun craft to make.

It's kind of like putting a puzzle together.

Watching how the flowers fill the

wreath and trying to place them

in the right spots.

It was fun to learn a new technique

of how to make the felt flowers and

the twist fabric flowers.

I'm so glad I have a mantle.

It's really fun to change up the decor

for each holiday!

Genetics

I'll keep saying this until

I am blue in the face.

We celebrated Valentines Day

Going out alone on a date or TWO!

The kids got candy from

friends, school parties and family,

Even a $1 to save in their piggy banks,

and warm, cozy socks this special holiday!

Meet Mommy Jr

She might be short but she has

all the makings of a great mom!

She can balance 3 babies at once

and still have energy to spare!

This little mommy even knows

how to count her many blessings

with her fingers and toes!

She even finds time to decorate

herself in fancy jewelry.

What a hip mom!

Hungry Hungry Hippo

Famished!

If Dan could talk,

I think THAT is what he would say

to me.

At least 10 times a day.

He was positively delighted

to learn how to feed himself.

Especially since he was tired

of waiting for a distracted mom

to get that darn spoonful of rice cereal

in his mouth.

And with the new discovery of

his useful hands...

Dan is now experiencing new foods

like ritz crackers, graham crackers,

cheerios and kix.

As you can see he isn't REALLY starving.

He's got plenty of chubbiness to live off of.

And we love our squishy babies!!

Snow...seriously?

An early Valentine's Day present

for all of us!

Snow in February?

In Texas?

We've had so much snow these past few

years that my doubts about global warming

have been affirmed.

My snow princess finally

learned to enjoy the snow this year.

I could even understand her

when she said the word "SNOW"!

Keira loved it so much,

she stayed outside the longest.

Ben likes to lick, taste, suck,

& eat snow.

He'll even try a dirty icicle that

was hanging from a car!

EW!

Emma likes a good snow ball fight!

To bad the snow wasn't WET,

but more of 6inch deep powder.

She opted for just chucking it

in any unsuspecting persons face!

Sydney likes snow for about 10mins.

She just can't handle the bone

chilling 15 degrees!

And I don't blame her!

As for mom and dad,

we liked the snow...

until mom suggested a trip to the grocery store.

Which turned out to be the worst

driving experience EVER!

We slided, other cars slided,

some crashed off the road.

I think we had about 10 heart-attacks

EACH!

And believe me, I was more then willing

to admit my idea was STUPID.

It took hours after making it home safely

to finally not feel panicky.

But Larry admitted to having pulse racing

dreams all night long.

How do people live in the snow?

I guess we are true Californians at heart.

This will be 3 days of school missed!

In one week!

I think we might need to start

reserving more "snow days"

if this type of weather keeps up.

Noodling Around

Hey Mom!

We've been stuck inside for DAYS!

And we are a little bored.

What can we do?

How about some spaghetti for dinner?

Check!

What should we do with the leftovers?

Put it in our hair?

Check!

Hang it on our face?

Check!

Throw it on the walls

and watch it stick?

Check!

Maybe a little on the ceiling too?

Check!

Practice our baseball pitch?

Check!

I guess you can say,

cabin fever has set in!!

Ice, Ice Baby

I don't know about you,

but I find weather VERY VERY

interesting.

I like to know what the weather

is going to be,

every .... single ... day!

Larry has even accused me of

having the hots for

one of my local news stations

weatherman,

FINFROCK!

But honestly, it's not him I love,

it his skills (or sometimes non-skills)

at predicting the ALWAYS changing

weather here in Texas.

At first it was just going to be cold temps.

Then we were supposed to have

a little rain, but the cold snap

would come afterwards.

Next, it a slushy mix of

ice and rain was predicted.

Instead we got a crazy amounts of wind

that chuck ice balls at our windows from 1am-5am.

It was so loud, neither Larry or I could sleep.

And by 5am the cold came.

We're talking ALASKA COLD!

Wind chill into the negatives!!

And all those wet ice balls became ICE!

It was so cold our yards became

an instant ice skating rink.

Turn your volume up!

Just listen to the cracking noise!!

Least to say, the kids were home from school

for 2 days.

And Larry stayed home too,

opting to take vacation days since

the county court house rarely shuts down.

(even if no judge or ADA is there!! HA!)

And the new prediction?

We aren't going above freezing

for 5  1/2 days straight!!

Creative Playtime

Peek-a-Boo!

What do you do when the weather

is super cold

and you've been at church all day?

Why you make a fort of course!

And how do you see inside

that dark den?

With your Brother's light-up lightsaber, of course!

It made a perfect center poll, too.

They were so impressed with their building skills,

the kids requested to sleep in their new

hide out.

But after we reminded the kids

we don't keep the heat very high

during the night downstairs,

they opted for their

warm & cozy beds instead!

Dino Nature Walk

We ventured out on a rare

70 degree day in January

and visited the Heard Nature Park!

We crossed our fingers Dan would

enjoy riding with Dad.

Because if he didn't...

well...let's just say,

with all the other kids around

he didn't have much of a choice!

Ben is all set for some quality

outdoor time!

Emma could run the whole route...

TWICE,

if we let her.

Sydney was great at keeping

us on track by being our map reader.

A museum worker brought a snake

for the kids to pet,

while we stood in line.

Is that a smiley face?

Success!

He likes it!

We stop for a quick picnic lunch

before we venture out.

Gotta load up on some protein.

Dr. Ben was ready with a bag

full of first aid gear...

just in case!

Emma & Sydney took turns

carrying the family water bottle.

Little Miss Hesitant was

comfortable with a hand to hold

at first but soon after noticing

the LARGE dinosaurs 

making recorded noises...

she was D-O-N-E.

For 2/3rds of the walk she screamed,

cried and needed to be carried

because those darn plastic dinosaurs

were just WAAAY too scary.

Thankfully all of the other kids

enjoyed them.

A cute log cabin to investigate.

We're 1/2 way done and Dan is still

all smiles.

As for Larry's back?

That's another story.

I was tempted to delete this photo

but the kids insisted this picture

was QUALITY.

Personally it grosses me out.

And completely unnecessary

at a family nature walk.

Afterward Keira relaxed as she

watched animals stuck in a cage.

What a great Saturday excursion!
