Texas Storms

If you've never lived in Texas then you don't

understand how POWERFUL

a thunderstorm can be.

They usually happen in the evenings during those precious

hours of sleep.

These storms are full of lightening,

ear deafening thunder and pounding

rain that sounds like a freight train.

This is a sneak peek of what it feels like

to sleep through one of these.

The storms usually come from the northwest and always

attack the side of the house where our bedroom is.

Thus making it impossible to sleep.

Then you end up with a backyard like this!

Swampy mess.

Texas Blue Bonnets

After living in Texas for over 8 and half years

we figured it was time we took part 

in the tradition of taking pictures with

the state flower.

These blue bonnets bloom every spring

all over the place.

Even the sides of the freeway.

These wild flowers are so beautiful!!

Yes, It Does Snow In Dallas

It happened again.

But the poor kids

STILL had to go

to school.

Who's that peaking in our window?

Ben was very upset that his ball was 

frozen to the ground!

Keira takes a walk in the snow.

Daddy didn't want to risk a

drive in snow to work.

We aren't really prepared for that

kind of weather around here.

So he stayed home with us!

This is a cute picture of his kindergarten class.

Water Fall Hike

Larry and I, Joel and Kaissa, 

Dave and Laura, & Kim and Ray

all decided we should take a hike

to the water falls.

We weren't really sure where we were headed

or what to expect the trails to be like.

We knew there was Stewart Falls

and then 1st & 2nd Falls.

We ended up into 2 different groups.

We assumed there was a large avalanche during

this winter because one side of the mountain

had a row of knocked down trees from

top to bottom!

It must of been a very strong avalanche to pull

this tree up from it's roots!

in the distance!

Groves of Aspen trees.

You can spot an Aspen tree because of it's

white bark.

And when the wind blows the leaves sound like

flutter wings.

These might be weeds but they make a very

beautiful flower.

Our view included the slopes of  Sundance.

My hiking tinkerbell backpack

is totally in style!

Ray sports the FBI sunglasses.

Parts of the trail had loss rocks that had fallen

from above, making it difficult

to hike through.

2 miles later we found Stewart Falls.

Ray and Larry waded through the 

icy water and walked behind

the water fall.

Talk about brain freeze!
