Summer Recap

This summer has been filled with special moments at home.
Here are a few ways the kids have entertained themselves....

Our dear friends the Burke's taught the girls this game.

For about 2 months these 2 big sisters taught
all 3 of their siblings SCHOOL in their room.
Including recess, snack time and homework!!
It lasted about 2 hours.  I loved it!!

They held dance parties in their bedrooms.

One time the girls made a "beach" in their room

Emma doing "reading time" with the kids.

Dan...well...being Dan.

Mom found new ways to put up her hair
to beat the heat.

Movie marathons with new shirts from Dad.

A few moments of hysterical tantrums
which ended in timeouts.

Lots and lots of board games
and card games.

For most of June and July we had
amazing amount of storms and cooler temperatures.
Which then gave us a brutally hot and dry August.

Practicing for Ninja Warrior.
The kids loved watching this tv show on Monday nights.

Emma does push ups with Sydney on her back!
We waste energy any way we can around here!

Fantastic Food Funny Faces

During the summer we find
stopping for a quick treat
helps beat the heat.

Sydney and her friend, Madison
enjoy "sweet frogs" frozen yogurt.

After a long afternoon at the museum
we meet daddy at Taco Bell
for some dinner.

The nacho eaters.

Mommy and Dan take a picture together.

Ben approves of the spicy Doritos taco.

Emma is a silly girl.

We are a house of salad eaters!

Sometimes we just eat salad for dinner.
Our favorite night is homemade
salad bar night.

Summer Journals

For our summer chores the kids write in
a journal daily.
Mom printed out strips of paper with
journal "prompts".

After Dad read these 2 entries from Keira
and Emma, he decided it was necessary
to spend some more time with the kids
at work!

"Daddy eats at work.  Daddy reads books."

"My Dads jobs is a lawyer. He goes to a court room
and helps jail people. We give him alllllot
of pictures to him because we miss him.  I am glad
my dad has a job because he earns money
for us."

Noodling Around

Hey Mom!
We've been stuck inside for DAYS!
And we are a little bored.
What can we do?

How about some spaghetti for dinner?
Check!

What should we do with the leftovers?

Put it in our hair?
Check!

Hang it on our face?
Check!

Throw it on the walls
and watch it stick?
Check!

Maybe a little on the ceiling too?
Check!

Practice our baseball pitch?
Check!

I guess you can say,
cabin fever has set in!!

Much Needed Entertainment

When Daddy is gone ALL DAY on
a Saturday, what does mom
do with 4 active kids?

Hand over the camera
for dress up time and
a fashion show!

I believe Keira stayed in her pj's
all day.

Strike a pose.

Luke Skywalker fighting fires in the North Pole?

Or not.

She makes boy scouts look goooood.

Wiggle it.
Just a little bit.

Did someone put deflated bread dough
to rise under my shirt?

Hungry?

Jazzersize!

say what?

Simply Beautiful.

Caught in the act!
No climbing up to the table, missy!

they were super excited to go camping
but the weather changed
the plans?

How about make your own
sleeping bag,
put on backpacks and hats
to pretend to go hiking
around the house!

Swagger Wagon

I'm usually not one to post things on my blog.
But I couldn't pass this up.
Especially after having to get past the old ideologies
of driving a "mom-van".
This song, makes it all worth it.

LOL

Thinks it's funny when...

Emma comes over to ask for something and she can tell my the tone in my voice when I say "what?", and then changes her question to "I love you!" and runs away. (smart girl)

We ask Ben to do something like "go pee" or "say the prayer" and he always responds with but I did it "yesterday".

Keira shakes her head yes or no, instead of saying it. She's such a mute.

Emma tempts Keira over to the tv and puts on her favorite show just so she can keep Keira away from the toys she's playing with.

Sydney has already decided she wants 2 kids and if her future husband won't compromise with her to maybe 3 kids THEN she won't marry him.

That even though there is only a 50% chance of Ben putting his shoes on the wrong feet he does it 95% of the time.

Keira gives kisses open mouthed and a little tongue.

when Sydney insists on wearing EVERYTHING blue to school just so she can call herself a blueberry.

Our Own Personal Recycling Machine

For 3 wks now we've been making due
without a working printer.

It has been baffling us by eating every
single piece of paper.

Frustrated, annoyed and simply pissed...

I got online with the printer company
and started a 1 hour chat
trying everything to get it to work.

I even went as far to take off one side
of the printer and
watched the printer...
once again...

EAT THE PAPER.

And to make things worse the company stated
we were past on the warranty coverage
and there wasn't anything they could do.

When Larry got home I broke the news.

He wasn't pleased either.
So he did this...

...took the printer apart more.

Screw by screw,
piece by piece.

And then brought me these...

And not 5 mins later,
brought me this.

Thank heavens Larry didn't give up like I did.

AND thank heavens we didn't ship this printer to
the manufacturer.
To only have them laugh their #!*(# off
when they found writing utensils shoved
down inside of it.

And thank heavens there's CPS to stop
me from shipping my kids to
Outer Mongolia.
